The Greek Revival home is believed to have been built in the 1850’s by steamboat captain Thomas Wright and his wife Eliza Craig Wright, and may very well be the only residence on Madison Main Street with a clear view of the Ohio River. Before coming to Madison the Wright’s had owned another historic Greek Revival home now known as Hildreth House circa 1838 in Vevay, Indiana.
Many prominent residents of Madison have owned the home including Leo J. Yunker, son of Pearl Packing Company owner Augustus Yunker.
Brandon and Sheri Taylor, and their family, are the current owners of the home. The Taylor’s purchased the residence in 2019. Having a flare for historic preservation and influence, some efforts where made to further restore the home back to its roots while keeping many of the modern updates. The home now features 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and an in-law suite.
